MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS

To obtain a marriage license, couples must apply in person at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Bridgetown.

Documents:

Couples are required to bring a passport or birth certificate and return tickets home.

  • If either party has previously been married, they must bring the original divorce certificate.
  • If either party is a widow, they must bring a certified copy of the marriage certificate and spouse’s death certificate.
  • A letter from the person who will officiate at your wedding.
  • Documents required for a Roman Catholic Ceremony must be sent by the couple’s bishop to the bishop of Bridgetown prior to the ceremony.

Fees:

For non citizens or residents of Barbados a fee of $175.00BDS including stamp duty is required.
