Wedding Vows That Bring you Together

Writing your own wedding vows can be a wonderful way to express openly how you feel about your spouse to be. It is a declaration of love, your hopes, and dreams of your future together, and a statement of your commitment to one another. Unique wedding vows can be poetic, sincerely written admissions of love that are sometimes hard to get through without shedding a tear or two and in general getting all choked up. Most of all, they can be a beautiful thing for all who witness them. Seeing two people who are madly in love with one another exchange-wedding vows captures your heart and makes you smile.

However, they can be very difficult to write. If you have ever tried to write what you feel down on paper or type those feelings into a word processor, then you already know how difficult it can be. If you have not tried this yet, you do not have to be getting married to discover how much fun and how challenging this can be.

Get a piece of paper and a pen or pencil and write down how you feel right now. What emotions are you experiencing? Describe in detail exactly what you feel and try to be completely honest. If you did this, you probably found yourself struggling with the exact words you needed to get across confidently, the emotions you feel just sitting and thinking. Now think about someone you love, and try to describe the way they make you feel. When they walk into a room, do you light up? Does your heart skip a beat when they look at you, say your name, touch you lovingly?

It is easier to do when you lose yourself in the thoughts you have for someone you love. The best trick you can use to accomplish this task is to put your thoughts down in a poetic, singsong way, then go back, and extract the feeling from what you have written. Trying to write poetry is hard unless you are writing about something or someone about which you are passionate. Then it becomes just a little bit easier.

Okay, you have written about your feelings about a loved one in a poetic way. Then you went back and wrote down the feelings that came through in the poetic verse. Now take those feelings and shape them as if you were writing a story. Begin your story with I promise to…and then describe what you want to do for the person that you love. Do you want to take care of them and see to it that they never suffer? Will you vow to keep them from harm? Will you hold them when they are sad and laugh with them when they are happy? Do you want to be there to wipe away every tear and rejoice in every triumphant moment? If you followed these simple yet hard steps, you now have a vow that will move him or her to tears.

Once you and your beloved have exchanged your wedding vows, there is usually not a dry eye in the chapel. Some of your guests will sit there with their wedding favors or unique wedding favors in hand and cry right along with you. That is one of the things that a personally written wedding vow can do. It is a powerful and moving part of the ceremony because it is so honest and so much in the moment of love and promised togetherness. It just does not get any more tender that that.

Picking the Perfect Beach Wedding Favors

Imagine that you were going to get married. What would be, in your mind, the perfect place for such an occasion to take place? For many people asked this very question, the first thing that pops in their mind is a church. Occasionally some people answer with a location that is considered to be romantic, yet some think it is unorthodox. The location in which they think of is a beach. Think about it, how many times can you say that you have attended a wedding on a beach? Not very often is it?

The location of a beach causes other questions to arise as well. It often leaves people wondering to themselves what some ideas for beach wedding favors are, as well as if they should also invest in some summer wedding favors to go along with the theme. Both themes pretty much coincide together because when one thinks of a beach, they generally think of the summertime as well. The trick is to find things which actually fit with the surroundings.

What type of favors would you choose for a location such as this? Would you use shells as dcor, or would you decide to throw a type of surfers wedding, equipped with surf boards and wet suites? Would you have snacks and delectable chocolates made in the shape of things often found at the beach, such as seagulls and sea shells? This is the fun part about planning a wedding; including all the fine details and piecing them together. It is almost like a jigsaw puzzle of life. Once it is pieced together, pictures of it will be taken and hung on wall for years to come.

People want every aspect of their wedding to be memorable from the “I do’s” right down to the “I’ll have another glass of champagne”. The key to accomplishing this is to have everything from the foods to the beverages and favors represent some aspect of your personality. If for instance you are a fun loving, witty person then your wedding favors and dcor should defiantly reflect it. In other words, these favors are almost like little reflectors of who you are. The most important thing about your wedding day though is that you are happy. Having decorations and wedding favors that are to die for is just an added bonus to your bliss. Enjoying the company of your friends and family, as well as sharing this day with them will defiantly make for the most memorable occasion in you life. This day marks the beginning of your very own family and the beginning of a new life. This is the day in which you and your soul mate have been joined together and have become one.

These are what make our lives worth living. Intimate moments like our weddings which we share with our friends and relatives, and the memories that we create together. When you look back on your special day, the things which will stand out the most is the person whom you love, your special day together, and the place where it all happened. As time goes by, you will find that memories are made to be cherished and shared, and that no matter how small or how big of an event you have, it will definitely be memorable.

Same Sex Weddings Are Coming Out

March 13, 2010 by Aaron Hu

In the last year, five states have legalized same sex marriages. As of September 1, 2009, same sex marriages will be legal in the state of Vermont in lieu of the civil unions that were in place. After this date, couples will no longer be able to purchase a civil union license. You will also be unable to get a same sex marriage license until you have the courts legally dissolve any civil union you have entered into before September 1.

Once you are married in Vermont, you will be unable to divorce in Vermont unless you are a resident of Vermont. This poses a particular problem and dictates that much thought should be put into any marriage but particularly same sex marriage as it cannot be dissolved without residency. Another problem that arises with the new law is that if you are married in Vermont, your same sex marriage will not be recognized in any state that does not have legalized same sex marriages.

As of right now, there are only five states that have passed such laws; New Hampshire, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, and Vermont, the latter of which had civil unions before the law was passed. This is a growing trend that has met with much hot debate across the country with vehemence and augments on both sides of the debate. With the new laws have come wedding planners that cater to same sex marriages only and some that cater to both traditional and same sex weddings alike.

These wedding planners offer the same services for same sex weddings as they would for traditional weddings and provide gay-friendly vendors to work with you in the planning stage. They have a wedding planning checklist that you can follow to ensure that you cover all the bases and fulfill the wedding of your dreams. This also includes the reception planning, guest lists and covers even the smallest details from what type of food that will be offered to deciding on wedding album favors to wedding cameras. Overall, the same sex wedding is just as much fun and just as difficult as any other type of wedding.

The wedding planner will help you in designing the perfect ceremony. They are also instrumental in helping you write your wedding vows, should you need it, and finding commitment ceremony resources. A commitment ceremony is simply a public affirmation of love that is popular between people of the same sex when they cannot get married. But now that several states have legalized same sex marriages, the ceremony is being incorporated into the wedding service and is a beautiful and tender way to present your vows.

Same sex weddings are just another step in our countries forward progress in the war against the prejudices that always plague a new nation. Bearing in mind just how young out nation really is, just over 230 years, and remembering just how bad things were during our history, this is a historic step and will be remembered and built upon for a long time to come. It is for this reason that The United States continues to be a world leader. While we may not have been first in many ways were are the most important as far as history is concerned in this major move towards acceptance, change, and equality.

The Perfect Summer Wedding Favors

March 12, 2010 by Aaron Hu

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a wedding on the beach? The way you see actors do it in movies, leaves so much to be yearned for. It seems to be the perfect casual location, which can double as a formal setting as well. No doubt about it, a beautiful beach practically screams romance. Maybe this is the reason why we always see beach front weddings on movies and on television shows.

The irony about these types of scenes is that we rarely ever see any beach wedding favors or any summer wedding favors. This can sometimes make one conclude that even though these weddings take place on a beach, that doesn’t necessarily mean that it is bright and warm outside. As strange as it may seem, even stranger things have been done before. Could you imagine trying to stand at the altar in the middle of the winter time? Of course not, well at least not outside. You could however picture standing at the altar in the winter, if the altar were indoors.

Even still, thanks to the popularity of nature themed weddings, the beach has become quite the popular wedding chapel these days. Is it really any wonder as to why Hawaii has become one of the most traveled too places in the United States then? Of course not, because it is literally a place for vacationing as well as for romance. This is because of the beaches and their crystal clear waters, not to mention their natural flowers. A beach front wedding on one of their beaches would be almost like Utopia. Then again, it all goes back to what time of the year it is. Even on a really warm day, it can be a bit cool at the beach. This is because not only do you have the wind coming off of the water, but you have vapor mists in the wind as well. This is why it usually is not a good idea to try to have a wedding or a get together on the beach during the cooler seasons of the year.

Sometimes people have beach themed weddings at places other then beaches. That’s right; sometimes people make their own beach setting in their own backyard, or a neighborhood park. As unusual as it may sound, it is true. Some times people who are terrified of water, or people who can not actually afford to travel all the way to a beach because they live on mainland, decide to create their own version of a beach without the water. Sometimes they even have props found at actual beaches such as surf boards, sand buckets and shovels, and of course lots and lots of sand. Then again, sometimes it is not the sand in between the happy couple’s toes which is requested.

Some people decide to have their beach weddings indoors. These generally only have a backdrop or painting of the ocean in which the couple stands before while reciting their vows. Sometimes they even go out and find a compact disk with the sound of the ocean on it to play at their reception. Now I don’t know about you, but personally if I were indoors, and heard a seagull, I would defiantly look up towards the ceiling just to make certain there wasn’t one present.

It Is Never Too Late To Say I Do Again

March 12, 2010 by Aaron Hu

I know a couple that has been married for fifty years. When they first tied the knot, they must have tied it well and double knotted it because they are more in love now than they ever were. I just had to ask what their secret is since I have been married twice myself and I’m hoping this one will last forever. What I learned is actually no secret at all. In fact, it is common knowledge that most of us tend to forget or take for granted from time to time.

John and Mary were poor when they married back in the fifties. He worked his heart out in the automobile industry and she waited tables deep into the night shift. They saved their money diligently and started a family. They encountered many difficulties over the years but the one thing they held true to was their love for each other. John told me that the secret to his marital longevity was simple. Whenever he tried to imagine what his life would be like if his Mary were suddenly gone it would scare him so bad that he knew he could not bear it. Mary told me just about the same thing. She looks at their friends who are married and thanks God every day that her John is not like the other husbands who stay out late at night and put their marriages second.

John and Mary are two of a kind yet they are as different as night and day. He would say the she is his polar south and he is a magnet. They push each other away so they have to work to stay together and that always made things interesting. It is usually at this point Mary would swat him with a rolled up magazine and tell him to stop kidding around.

John and Mary recently renewed their wedding vows and had the kind of wedding Mary always wanted but could never afford. After fifty-three years of marriage, they had a unique plan in mind and threw down on a wedding that no one who attended will ever forget. With their usual charm and wit, they made their wedding something special. Even their wedding party favors were unique. My favorite bridal party favor is a rope tying two coffee mugs together, one with a picture of John and the other of Mary. The writing on the rope says the family that shakes together stays together. They do love their coffee.

The point is that it is never too late to have the wedding of which you have always dreamed. A renewal of your wedding vows is an affirmation that you are still in love with each other and life could not change that. Mary would tell you that having a child together is also a very strong bonding point and that they were truly blessed to be able to have such healthy and hale children.

No matter how old you are or how long you have been together, you can renew your vows and make a re-affirmation of your love for each other. Doing it right the second time can be just as fun and possibly more romantic that the first. You will certainly have more time to plan and design an unforgettable experience that you can share with friends and family. It is also a wonderful goal for which to save money. You have proven your love and now you can reap the rewards of having a wonderful wedding and reception, the one you wanted when you first started out together but may not have been able to afford.

Wedding Ideas That Save Our Environment

March 11, 2010 by Aaron Hu

If you love our planet and want to save a tree or two, here are a few things that you can do to help our planet without sacrificing a beautiful wedding. Weddings have the potential to produce a lot of paper product waste from invitations to paper plates and plastics. Just follow these few tips and tricks and you will be doing your part to make this a better world to live in.

Your wedding invitations are usually several pieces of paper in a paper envelope including the invitation itself, a map or directions, (or both) and a separate invitation to a bridal shower or party. Sometimes we will include a list of do’s and don’ts and coupons or information to where the best prices for their wedding guests needs to be filled. This can all be done on recycled paper and consolidated to one or two sheets. You would not have to sacrifice beauty as there are wonderful online sites that sell beautiful recycled paper invitations. Even better, send them to a special link on your website where they can sign up to be your guests and your wedding functions and do the whole thing painlessly online. Think of the trees you will be saving!

There are many other places during your wedding that you can save paper by using recycled paper products. You can also forego using menus or wedding activity programs and have an announcer do all the talking for them. Use ushers to show your guests to their assigned seating rather than using table nametags and a seating map for every guest. Also, do not forget to have your otherwise disposed friends or family to RSVP via phone, text, or email. Remember, this planet has to last for the sake of our children and their children as well.

There are still a lot of people who think that replacing their paper products with plastic or Styrofoam is doing the right thing. Hopefully, more people will become aware how much the factories that produce paper products pollute out breathing air and contaminate our drinking water. Replacing these products with recycled material will not only save our trees, it keeps trash from reaching landfills, it keeps our air breathable and out water pure.

It never hurts to ask your guests for any ideas they may have to make your wedding a green wedding. Who knows, many of them may volunteer to carpool to and from the wedding saving gas and saving our air from harmful exhaust emissions. There are many wedding favors such as glass wedding favors or crystal wedding favors that use no paper or plastics in the design.

After the wedding has drawn to a beautiful conclusion and the glorious reception you spent so many hours designing has wrapped up for the night you can really start helping our planet and our lives by cleaning up after using all natural products that can be found online at reasonable prices. These products are chemical free and completely non toxic. Scientific test have shown that walking into a small room that has just been cleaned will contaminate every art of your body, including the part that is clothed. Minor amounts of these chemicals can be found on every part of your body, which you then transport wherever you go from there. Using a cleaning service that uses these people friendly products is doing your part in saving our planet and its inhabitants, including our pets. Enjoy your wedding and enjoy knowing that you did everything possible to make it safe and planet friendly.

How Much Time Do You Need To Plan Your Wedding

March 11, 2010 by Aaron Hu

In planning your wedding, timing is everything. When you and your future spouse make the big decision as to when, it is a good idea to pick several dates and go from there. The reason behind this is that if you have the wedding in one place and the reception in another, which you will probably have to do, you will need to book both places for the same day. This is sometimes nearly impossible to do, especially if you only have one date and one location in mind.

You will want to put the date as far out as possible and still be reasonable. Setting a date of six months to a year from the day you start planning should give you enough time to get everything set up and your guests enough time to ensure they can attend. There is more to planning a wedding that you can possibly imagine and if you have no experience with it and plan on doing it all yourself, you will need as much time as possible to get everything done.

Minor details are key to the success of your wedding. It is always something small that comes back to bite you as the big day approaches. Little things like deciding upon summer wedding favors or if you are marrying at or near the ocean, beach wedding favors. When you have made a decision, don’t forget to order them. While this is a minor detail and is not huge in itself, add a few more minor details to it and you have a potential catastrophe waiting in the wings with the bridesmaids.

One of the very first decisions you will have to make besides location is how many guests will be invited. Even the location depends on this decision. You want to think this through carefully as the more guests you have, the more closely you will have to consider your budget and the more details there will be to overlook. Seek out friends that have been through this before and do not be scared to use the internet to learn as much as possible before you even begin.

Many catering services will charge by the head count. Food is going to be a big expense and what type of wedding theme you plan will play a big part in what kind of food you will serve. Can you see how the decisions seem to snowball off each other? Make a list of what you need to do and then follow your list. It will help to reveal many of the smaller things that you have missed and help you to plan a successful wedding and reception.

Another great reason to start planning early and give yourself plenty of time is that you will need this time to compare caterers and services for price and quality. Remember the difficulty in setting the chapel and the wedding hall dates on the same day. Many caterers that you contact will also be unavailable according to your schedule. If it seems like a daunting task that is because it is a daunting and difficult task but fortunately, it is not impossible, as many people have made it through before you.

The most important thing to do is to give yourself plenty of time to make and correct the mistakes you might make in the order of the services you plan. There will always be something you will have to adjust because it was not decide3d upon in the correct order. That is okay because if you have plenty of time, you can always correct your minor mistakes and forge ahead with confidence.

The Man and The Moon

His hands were suddenly clammy and felt tingly cold. He could feel the sweat oozing from every pore on his body. There was a very irritating twitch that had developed in his left eye, which was now keeping a beat of which M. C. Hammer would be proud. He did not know how he was going to get through the next few seconds of his life without passing out. The world seemed to swim in and out of focus as he swayed unsteadily on his feet. People he knew and some he did not, although he was sure he should have, were staring at him in anticipation. He knew he should at least make the attempt, but he did not think he would make it.

“This is it.” He thought. “This is the moment I have dreaded all my life. The end is finally here.” He tried to speak but his saliva had dried up and all he could manage was a croaking sound. As he glanced around him, he could see the concern in everyone’s eyes. Some even registered alarm. He knew he had to try. Even if it killed him, and he thought that it actually might but he had to try. “I absolutely, unequivocally must find a way to miraculously survive this,” he thought, “Everything is hanging on what I do now. They are counting on me which means it’s all riding on this one moment.”

“One,” a sudden stabbing sensation pierced his chest. He could feel his pulse start to palpitate. For a brief moment, he thought he might actually pass out. “Two,” the pressure in his chest increased. He realized he had not taken a breath in quite some time and all the blood had rushed to his head, which felt the size of an enormous, hot air balloon. “Three!” He drew in a deep lungful of air and steeled himself. At first, absolutely nothing at all happened. He was sure his throat had seized and he would be completely immobilized like this forever. Then, at last and with great relief, he heard his voice boom through the room. It reverberated violently off the walls. An infant, somewhere in the large crowd started crying, startled.

“I DO!”

Music started playing and the preacher, looking very relieved, pronounced them man and wife. He kissed his new bride hello, and his old life goodbye. The guests, also relieved, crowded forward to congratulate the happy couple. He realized then that he had made the right decision and after all was said and done and the newlyweds had departed in their white limousine as the guests lingered, but only long enough to comment to each other what a lovely ceremony they had witnessed. They slowly left the chapel with their spring wedding favors and their garden wedding favors in their gaily-decorated packages and they all went home.

The pastor and his wife stood in the empty chapel surveying the left over decorations and little white specks of rice on the carpet. “For a moment, I thought he was going to bolt and I wondered,” the pastor’s wife commented as she put paper plates into a plastic trash bag. “Why do men have such a hard time with commitment?”

The Elderly pastor stopped trying to untangle the vacuum cleaner cord and sat down in the first pew. “My dear,” the elderly pastor began, “I thought you would have figured that out by now. I’ll explain it to you but you might not have the right genes to get it. I believe you have to have a certain level of testosterone to understand.” He reached up and loosed his tie before continuing. “You see, men can comprehend what is wrong and what is right, but unlike women, we can’t figure both, at least, not at the same time. I guess you could say we are like the moon, sometimes we are full of light, and we shine brightly. During that phase, we see the good in everything. Sometimes we have no idea what we want and that is the phase in which we are more like the new moon. You cannot see the new moon because the earth blocks the sunlight. So you could say that when a man is like the new moon he is there, he is just not too bright. Our young groom today was like the crescent moon. Half of his soul could see his lovely bride before him; the other half was not very bright. Fortunately, his bright side kicked in and it turned out okay.” The pastor’s wife slowly shook her head from side to side. “You must be a new moon tonight because you’re making no sense at all.

Simple Tips For A Successful Wedding

March 9, 2010 by Aaron Hu

The reception is a wonderful, after ceremony affair at which the bride and groom are officially introduced to the guests and are given a fond departure into the world. It is the launching off point of the bride and groom’s life and honeymoon, provided you are taking one immediately after the ritual.

Traditionally, this is paid for by the father or parents of the bride but lately, etiquette has provided that just about anyone can foot the bill. More and more often, the bride and groom have opted to do this. To me, this always made sense. It is after all, the bride’s big day. Paying for and planning the wedding should be her responsibility, that way, if there are specifics that she wants and/or needs, she just included it in their budget.

Another question that usually pops up concerns the bridesmaid’s gowns and who pays for them, but this is a simple question to answer. The bridesmaids pay for their own dresses if it is something that can be worn to other functions. If the bride wants a themed wedding, then she will have to foot the bill. It is that simple and it is that fun.

In choosing a site for your wedding reception to take place, you may want to check for places like wedding halls that actually have an all-inclusive package. This means that they include the hall, music, food, and many other amenities that make for a complete wedding. By going in this direction, you could save hundreds if not thousands of dollars on caterers. These places do exist; it is just a matter of finding them. Most of them either do not advertise or just advertise the use of the hall as a rental property for weddings. Remember also to choose wedding shower favors that match your theme. It makes the bridal shower favors much more fun.

Hiring a wedding photographer or videographer is not as easy as it sounds. There are different styles of photography and it will depend largely upon your taste in these styles. Each style, like artistic photography, will have his or her specialized portfolio to show you and show off their talents. However, there are three very important aspects you need to be comfortable with before you even begin to approach a decision. First, do you like the photographer as a person? This is important because the better you get along, the harder he or she will try. This is just a basic fact of life that you will have learned by now and if not, you will.

You will also want to know what happens to the negatives of your weddings photos. Find a photographer who is either very stable and will be in business for years to come, or is willing to give them to you. If something should ever happen to your wedding photo book, the negatives are the only way you will replace it. Without them, the album could be lost. If you keep the negatives, keep them in a separate location from the photos, like a safety deposit box. It may also be a good idea to have them insured by the bank that stores them.

The last tip is a simple one and should be common knowledge. The photographer may the nicest person in the world and you could like him or her very much and become friends forever. That does not make them a good photographer. Their portfolio only proves that they are adept at picking out their best pictures. Always check their references. These tips should help make your wedding planning a little bit easier. There are hundreds of sites online that will have plenty of time saving and money saving tips that will help as well. Congratulations and have a wonderful wedding!

Appropriate Attire and Wedding Party Favors for Golden Anniversaries

March 8, 2010 by Aaron Hu

As time seems to slip thought your fingers, you can not help but wonder where all these years have gone. It seems like just yesterday you were fast asleep in your bed, and your biggest worry was whether of not the boogie man really was in your closet. Those were the days weren’t they?

The days of infamous youth and oodles of energy seem to be a distant memory. Alas, at least your memories are still up to par, although at times it makes you wonder if indeed it is actually memories rather then your imagination. You can still see her, your blushing bride. It doesn’t seem like this is your golden years, your fiftieth wedding anniversary. You can still remember your first walk down the isle, and even what wedding guest favors were handed out at your reception to go along with your wedding party favors. It is amazing how all of these years have come to pass, and yet your feelings are still as strong as they were the day you first met her.

The time has finally come for you and you’re beloved to recite those vows once more, just as you had done fifty years ago. You gather all of your friends and family together to share in your joyous renewing of your vows. This time there will be old familiar faces, and the faces of those new additions to your family, all present. It is almost as if you have traveled back in time even though your wardrobes have been updated quite a bit since then. Although everything seems to have its own significance, the one thing which stands out more and need no indicator, is your love.

Just imagine what your parents would say if they could be present. Would they too rejoice and shed a few tears of happiness? Of course they would. Golden Year anniversary’s are very special, almost more so then the wedding which began its countdown. This is sure to be one celebration which will be hard to beat regardless how hard someone tries to. It will defiantly be worth making a scrap book and photo album for as well.

Sometimes the celebration of one’s golden year anniversary would seem like something unfathomable, mainly because it isn’t often heard of these days for marriages to last that long. To you however, although it is your golden anniversary, you still feel as though it were your wedding day. You also still feel the nervousness that you did on your wedding day too. You bride no longer as young as she once was, is still beautiful making her way down the isle, and blushing just as she did the first time. The faces in the crowd seem to fade and become invisible to your eyes, because to you, the only person worth seeing is your wife. This is what true love is made of; courage and persistence. This is what every waking moment of every single day of your life has been for. Your sole reason for being is simply to love, and to be loved. This is what everything amounts to. You and your wife, together forever or until death do you part. If only those younger couples these days knew what it would be like fifty years down the road, maybe then they too would cherish such memories like these.
