Asian or Garden Wedding Favors – The Best Way to Include The Far East or Flowers

When couples plan a wedding in today’s world there are many different elements that must be considered. Theme and decorations are two things to think about, along with what type of decorations to use with the theme chosen. Two very nice ideas for themes to use at the ceremony and reception are an Asian or a garden theme. Whichever is decided upon, there are wedding favors to match the theme that are a great idea to give to the guests as a special “Thank you” gift that will also act as a reminder of the special occasion.

There are many elements about the orient that are fascinating to those of us from the west. The decorations used outdoors, including the paper lanterns lit with candles and elements of the written language, make beautiful additions to a western wedding when handled properly. This is why an Asian theme is a fairly popular choice. Couples who go with an Asian theme can find a good variety of Asian wedding favors by shopping online. These small, inexpensive items can be given to the guests as thank you gifts and they make some of the most beautiful keepsakes that anyone could ever wish for to have as reminders of the event.

Asian silk fans, paper fans, candles, and a variety of different items that make use of the glyphs for “Love” and “Double Happiness” are among the choices available to couples seeking to order and give out Asian wedding favors. Many couples find the simple act of shopping for these items to be a relaxing diversion from some of the more difficult aspects of planning the ceremony and reception.

Another very popular outdoor theme that couples enjoy working with when making their plans is a garden theme that celebrates the abundance of life around them. Flowering plants are among the most beautiful decorative items used at such an event, and garden wedding favors tend to use a lot of flower blooms as thematic elements in them. These items can be almost anything one can imagine as long as they are decorated with some sort of flower.

One of the most popular items ever given as a garden wedding favor is a packet of mixed flowering seeds that the guests can take home and plant in their own flower garden to have a perennial living reminder of the joy shared with the couple on their special day.

Whether the couple chooses to use an oriental or Asian theme, or a garden theme, the setting must be done just perfectly to make the day turn out to be the wedding that the bride has always dreamed of. Giving the guests Asian or garden wedding favors is the best way to thank them for the time they have taken to come out and make the day as perfect as possible for the couple. These are among the most beautiful and most memorable types of wedding favors a couple can find.

Wedding Planning 101: The Wedding Day Emergency Kit

by April Rondeau

You’ve been planning your wedding for months or even years. You have gone over every detail with excruciating precision-there are calendars, lists, and timelines coming out of your ears. You are dressed in your gorgeous white gown and step out of the limo, ready to make your grand entrance.

Riiiiiiiip! One of your lovely bridesmaids has her heel caught in your train, which is now short some lace trimming. Before you start to cry, reach for the emergency kit that you brought along for just this reason. See, you really CAN be prepared for anything!

1. Needles, small scissors, and thread to match groomsmen, bride, groom, and bridesmaids attire. For any tears, pulls, or even last-minute tailoring. You really just never know.

2. Mole-skin and/or band aids. For blisters from painful shoes, paper cuts from handing out programs, or even a hangnail gone awry. Bring lots of them.

3. Stain remover, e.g. Tide to Go. Be prepared for dirt, wine, even baby spit-up if there’s a little tyke around.

4. Clean cloths to wipe said stains.

5. Static cling spray. You really don’t need the bridesmaids’ dresses clinging to the backs of their legs, do you?

6. Tissues. Someone is going to cry. It might be you.

7. Q-tips. After you cry, you want some precision touch-up work that only a good cotton swab can provide.

8. Lipstick, foundation, powder, mascara, et cetera. A redo might be needed if you really bawl your eyes out.

9. Straws. If you’ve paid someone to do your makeup, you don’t want to smudge it all around on a glass. Straws protect the lipstick, and make it nearly impossible to dribble that mimosa on your bridal whites.

10. Brush/comb. If it’s windy, this is a necessity.

11. Painkillers. You don’t want to be explaining to your new hubby that you have a headache on your wedding night.

12. Travel toothbrush and dental floss. These photos will last a lifetime, the lettuce in your teeth doesn’t have to.

13. Clear nail polish. A run in your stockings doesn’t need to be cause for crisis with this classic remedy. But bring an extra pair of ‘hose just in case.

14. Nail polish. Don’t fret over a chip in your manicure. Just touch it up and move on. Make sure it’s the same shade, though!

15. Emory board. A snag in your nails could cause snags in your nylons, dress, flower girl’s hair, et cetera, all day long. Get rid of it, pronto.

16. Perfume or body spray. After dancing all night, you might need to freshen up. Bring some clear deodorant, too, while you’re at it!

17. Hair spray. Again, just in case. Shellack that ‘do!

18. Bobby pins. Hair ties. Anything you use to decorate your hair-bring extras!

19. Antacids. Nerves do funny things to tummies. Antacids can help get you down the aisle in one piece. For that matter, if you get upset stomachs, bring some Imodium, too. The last thing you want is to feel the need to make a run for the toilet during your heartfelt vows.

20. Your vows, written down. You might think you’ll be fine repeating after the officiant, but it will calm you down to be able to read them before the big walk down the aisle. Kind of like flash cards for a test.

And there you have it. An emergency kit to get you through just about anything that might go wrong on your wedding day. Unless crazy Uncle Jimmy gets tipsy and decides to make a long, slurring speech about how he thought you’d never get hitched. Ain’t nothing going to save the day then.

It’s not uncommon to find when planning a wedding or bridal shower, that shower favors are a source of at least some stress. Why do I need them anyways? Bridal shower favors make no sense to some since it’s the guests who are supposed to be giving gifts to the bride, not the other way around. However, inexpensive & small wedding shower favors can be a very sweet and considerate gesture on the part of the bride toward her nearest friends. Some people see wedding shower favors as absolutely necessary while others might not see it that way. Personal choice will prevail, though if you are unsure, opting to provide the just the smallest of shower favors is the safe bet to avoid disappointing guests.

Bridal or wedding showers usually are arranged by the maid-of-honor and center on the bride accompanied by her closest friends and family assembled to give gifts and celebrate an upcoming wedding. However, some couples choose to buck tradition and arrange wedding showers without the traditional gender roles. These wedding showers are a joint celebration for both bride & groom, which require a different strategy when it comes to planning the wedding shower favors and other details.

Wedding or shower favors can be a joy to hunt for and choose. In part this is because the affair is more intimate allowing favors of a more intimate nature than the favors for the wedding ceremony. Bridal showers are, let’s face it, more intimate events, as they are attended by the close friends of the bride.

It’s always the theme of the party that holds the key to a lot of the other details, and such is the case for selecting the bridal shower favors. The shower theme normally reflects the personality of the bride. For example, if a bride lives for skiing, bringing this theme to the gifts will provide the link to her personality.

The ideal party favors are ones your guests can use. Most of the cute wedding shower favors look to be a good idea, but often are destined for a home at the back of some drawer, never to see the light of day again. Bridal shower favors are best when they are both useful and fun together.

How to Keep Wedding Costs Under Control

The wedding market in the United States is at an all time high,an average wedding can now cost tens of thousands of dollars so are you surprised many couples find it financial challenging? It is understandable that many couples feel pressured into spending money they do not have but it really isn’t necessary, you can still have a wonderful day even though it might be a cheap wedding although you might not be convinced yet! A little guidance and cost saving ideas could make it all possible, generally making savings on those aspects that are always expensive.

Second Hand Bridal Gown

Of course every bride wants a designed, hand made wedding dress; this is very expensive but savings can be made, especially if using a previously owned dress is considered. As the wedding dress has probably only been worn once anyway and you can get a once expensive dress for half the price; consider buying an evening gown or cocktail dress from a department store perhaps even look into renting your dress for the day.

Planning the Reception

The bulk of the budget will be swallowed up by the wedding reception, planning is crucial but with some clever re-thinking, this is where your cheap wedding will save the most. Don’t invite everyone you know, in particular relatives you haven’t seen since you were a child; as far as the meal is concerned why not have a buffet instead of a full, waited on, three course meal.

Other cost reductions can be made in where the wedding reception is held; it could take place in a friend’s house or a local club where money could be saved on beverages if they are supplied directly.

Images of the wedding

Although many photographers stay for the whole day, it is cheaper to only hire them for just the ceremony; placing disposable cameras on the tables for the guests to use has become a very popular option. Some people save money by dispensing with the professional photographer entirely; using a friend or relation may sound strange at first but you can guarantee one of them is a keen amateur photographer.

Low Cost Wedding Invites

If you’re on a budget and looking for less expensive wedding stationery items, then you might like to consider print-at-home stationery; there are many online stationers that will offer this service free of charge and all you pay for is the paper and envelopes. With sophisticated customization tools you’ll be able to enter your own text and preview it before you print; so as not to make any costly mistakes, all from the benefit of your probably underused PC.

Flowers at the Wedding

Cost cutting measures can also be found in the area of flowers and their arrangement; these can actually be purchased in large quantities from wholesalers or even from your own garden if you have the capacity. If you have one of your friends make the wedding cake you can save some serious money; there probably won’t be any need for five or six tiers either just as an alternative to the traditional fruit filling could be tried.

The Wedding Car

Most people, when asked, feel proud if their car can be used as wedding transportation; it is surprising how impressive this can look when done properly.

Money saved because it was a cheap wedding can be used productively; especially if the couple is planning to buy a house!

The Significance of a Chinese Wedding Dress

August 23, 2009 by Alok

by Neta E. Talmor

If you look at a Chinese wedding dress, you’ll find that it’s a little bit different than the traditional wedding dress in the Western world. It has a lot more decoration on it, for one thing, and there’s a lot more work put into it. The type of dress a Chinese bride wears usually relates to the region the bride’s family is from. If one is from the north, for example, the bride may wear the Qi Pao. If her family is from the south, she may wear the Cheongsan. There are a lot of other examples in China as to the styles of dress. This could be, for example, Tibetan, Mongolian, or Taiwanese. There are also many other groups that won’t be discussed in this article.

The dress’s color is especially significant. Most Chinese women wear red at their weddings, because red signifies happiness. In China, white symbolizes death, so this is not a suitable color for a wedding dress. However, Western sensibilities have leaked into tradition, and Chinese brides have begun to wear white, which symbolizes that they have begun to accept Western culture.

The men at a traditional Chinese wedding would likely wear black or gray, which on a woman would be a sign of grief, but for the men this is perfectly acceptable. They may also wear the colors that pertain to their station, which is a lot like western wedding ceremonies. It is very interesting that they would not wear red, but would instead wear the colors of those in grieving. That is just the way it is though.

Most Chinese wedding dresses are also embroidered with golden decorations, and it is important to note that not just every tailor can work with golden fabric. For this reason it may be necessary to call in a highly skilled cloth worker, and for this reason it may only be the very wealthy Chinese who use any sort of gold embroidery on their wedding dresses.

The modern Chinese wedding dress tradition is said to be coming from the ancient Qing Dynasty, the last dynasty to rule in China. This Dynasty ruled from 1644 to 1912, and was established by the Manchu Clan, still in existence in northeast China today.

It is nothing short of amazing to look back at our past and see all of the things that occurred back then which influenced the way we are now. This is true for every culture on the globe, not just the Chinese. Every culture is heavily based on it’s past, and if you look at yours closely you may find that it’s not that much different than it was several hundred years ago.

There’s a lot more you can find out about Chinese wedding dress traditions. If you want to find out more about the traditional Chinese wedding dress, take a look back in time and do some research of your own. You’ll see that there is a story of fascination just waiting to be discovered.

Ordering and payment of the bridal shower and wedding shower favors is followed by the process of delivering the gifts to the respective buyer and location. The favors can reach the wedding couple by use of several methods as the engagement of the parcel courier services as FedEx, DHL or the national postal services, the use of supplier delivery service or owner delivery. The choice of the method to be use is based on the nature of the favors; their material and design, the distance to be covered, the time available and the costs involved per item. If the courier services are sort the delivery is within one week for almost all distances and the delivery is at the door of the given address. This method is safe and the couple is able to trace the movement of their products all the way from the supplier to their door.

Many buyers and sellers prefer the courier services due to their speed, safety and accuracy in, delivering. There are many international, national and local courier service providers that can cater for your needs. Their pricing is mostly based on distance and weight of the gifts delivered. The advantage about them is that they have insurances to cover for many risks involved as theft, damage and any other occurrence that may be met on the way. Most of them deliver the sent goods within a week in most of the destinations. Their delivery is at the door of the addressee.

The easiest way of getting you favors home is buy carrying them yourself after you buy them. Here you will not have to pay any courier or add shipping cost to any agent. The only cost is the cab if you do not have a car. The gifts arrive in time and good condition for when you carry them you greatly care for them for you know their value to your heart. Due to shortage in funds the best way to beat this is to have the favors made at the site or venue of the event. All materials and tools are brought here and the products made stored within the area; this minimizes the cost of transport, time and risks of breakages during transportation. After process of manufacture is complete the gifts are packaged according to the wishes of the couple.

As you ship your chosen products the following mentioned factors must be put into considered; the cost per mile and specific weight, the fragility of the favors, how perishable are the gifts, shipping length and the insurance cover that covers for risks as theft, breakages, delay and many others. The reputation built by the shipping company the shipping company is also vital. Picking Out Bridal Shower Favors

August 23, 2009 by Alok

by Aaron Hu

Bridal shower favors have evolved a lot over the last forty to fifty years. When I was a small child, the winner of the bridal shower game usually got to keep the household item. They where considered the bridal shower favors. They arranged from a lot of different cooking utensils, to household cleaning products such as a toilet scrub brush, and the ever so popular a box of Hammer Baking Soda with a hand printed list of all its usefulness.

I remember when I was a small child my mother and the rest of the groom-to-be aunts gave his bride-to-be a family and friends a bridal shower. A lady who had children older than I was at the time, won one of the shower games and was tinkled pink that she won a toilet scrub brush; “Oh my,” she claimed, “I was just about to buy a new one, my old one that I received as a shower gift twenty years ago is loosing all its bristles. This is wonderful, now I don’t have to buy a new one.”

Cleaning ones house has evolved into disposal materials that’s better for the environment. In fact a lot of woman don’t even clean their own homes, these days. I can imagine a younger lady getting a regular old toilet brush for a bridal shower gift and not knowing what the thing was for.

So, what’s left to give out as bridal shower favors. Well you could get online and type in Bridal Shower Favors like I did and buy everything from theme soaps to little candles. You could give something out as elegant as wine stoppers to something as domestic as bottle openers. You can even give them heart shape measuring spoons for their own kitchen (if they cook and bake). My personal favorite for over indulging is the little monogrammed bags with any letter(usually the first letter of the bride-to-be’s new coming last surname)and filled with candies of your choice.

I’ve always found homemade bridal shower favors a more personal touch for the guest and for the bride and her mother and future mother-in-law. For insistence with a garden theme bridal shower, the favors could be a mix of flower seeds slipped into cellophane and the ends gathered together and tide with ribbon that also holds a personalize note from the bride or the bride’s mother or even written by the people that are giving the bridal shower. Just a simple thank you for coming to the bridal shower and making the day special for the bride-to-be and her mother.

Today you have many options in terms of bridal shower favors. Quite popular are the various cookie cutters that come in all manner of shapes and sizes. Your guests will benefit from it’s use in their own kitchens for years to come while being reminded of having received the gift at your bridal shower party. loved to bake.

My mother always prefers the eatable bridal shower favors, especially the chocolate kind. However the problem with that bridal shower favor once the food item is gone my mother would throw away the container that held the food item. No matter if it held a personal note or the bride-to-be’s name.

Which brings us to that special bridal shower favor that the guest will want to hold on to for quite sometime. And the most famous question bridal shower givers ask is how much money do we want to spend. Of course it all begins with how many people are giving the bridal shower and how much money can they afford to spend. I personally have done the bridal shower where the bridesmaid gave the party. To the bride-to-be’s family live out of town, however the groom-to-be’s family lives in town so they give a bridal shower to the bride-to-be as a welcome to the family party. I find giving a bridal shower as the bridesmaid gives you less money to work with, since you already have pay over a hundred dollars for the bridesmaid dress, than another forty dollars for the shoes.

And don’t forget the twenty dollars for the matching purse. Than theirs that wrap or coat you need to get for the winter weddings. Plus your bridesmaid are usually limited to two to four women. Where as a family bridal shower you can have two to ten women helping pay for the bridal shower. Once you decide on a budget you need to make your list of things you need. Food, game prizes, cake, and serving ware. What money is left over is usually what you use for decorating and the favors.

So, you can spend as much or as little money you want on bridal shower favors. However some believe that the more personal touch of bridal shower favors is what’s important. Whether they are edible or the throw in the draw kind of bridal favors, by adding personalized bridal shower favors for the guest to take home with them, that makes it more personal for the bride-to-be and to the guests.
