A Caribbean Wedding
Having a wedding in the Caribbean is truly a special experience. You should be thrilled to have your wedding on one of these beautiful islands as they are all unique and beautiful each in their own way.
The fantastic climate, vibrant mix of people, delicious food and beautiful backdrops make an ideal setting for a wedding.
You have scenic backgrounds to choose from such as lush forests, mountains, beautiful white sandy beaches, sailboats & yachts, palm or coconut trees, birds of all kinds and everything else that you can imagine a Caribbean wedding to have.
Each country has its own set of marital laws which should be considered carefully when planning a wedding in a country foreign to your own. However, if you are planning a wedding on your own island you need not worry, but still be sure to investigate and make sure that you have all of the proper requirements well before your big day.
The key to planning a successful wedding in the Caribbean is by understanding all aspects involved in a wedding including costs, weather, location and more. Be sure to use the features of this site to help in your planning. This will make it much easier and more organized during the entire process.
A Caribbean wedding can be frustrating to plan because things are not always clear and concise, nor does it happen fast. It can be much more time consuming than a wedding abroad so the challenge here is to be organized and get the ground work in place thereby leaving lots of room and time to spend on decorating and choosing musicians, caterers and the lot.
Here are some helpful tips for getting started:
1) Decide on a date and remember to consider the time of year and the weather during that season
2) Choose the location of your wedding
3) Decide on a budget
4) Find suitable venues to choose from and put a tentative booking down
5) Book a church, mosque or temple or officiate
Once these things are done then you can start working on the finer details.

Trinidad Wedding on a Shoestring Budget

Tying the knot on a shoestring budget.
Most of us dream about our Trinidad wedding day for years and years! There is no reason why you need to spend all your life’s earnings on one day so I have a few tips that will help you put a little creativity into your planning to help you save big without breaking the bank or compromising your style!
1. Plan a house wedding and save thousands on venue rental.
2. Save on formal printed invitations by making them yourself. Get creative! You can purchase do-it-yourself kits that will let you print the invitations yourself and save big! Check out: www.michaels.com, www.mygatsby.com, www.dizzidezine.com. You can also personalize stationery and favors yourself: www.myownlabels.com
3. Borrow what you can if are you sentimental. Most people know someone that has been married before and can borrow things like the cake fork and knife set, Granny’s wedding toasting glasses, the ring bearers’ pillow, jewelery, a unity candle, and even shoes! You may even be lucky to get a wedding dress from a friend or relative and altar it to look totally unique to you at a fraction of what a new dress would have cost.
4. Use your resources as now is the time to say “yes please” if someone offers you to print your ceremony programs, help out with flowers for the church, sew the bridesmaid dresses, or sing at the ceremony. Perhaps your aunt is great at making a good old Trinidad wedding black cake ask her to bake your Wedding cake. You will save a bundle and only have to pay to have it iced. Want to save more on the cake? Use real flowers instead of sugar flowers.
5. Cut out the fru fru and stick to simplicity! Perhaps instead of draping yards of fabric you can use plants with fairy lights to create some atmosphere. When using flowers stick to what is in season and available at the time of your wedding. For a cool lighting effect use spot lights in one colour against white linens for a dramatic and sophisticated effect.
6. Forget the expense of purchasing wedding favours! Either make your own or use that money towards investing in a good Deejay instead!
7. Cut and serve your wedding cake as part of your dessert options.

Notes from the Author:
Since I could talk I have been obsessed with weddings! It is simple…I love a wedding. I am not an events co-ordinator I am a Wedding Planner. I love being part of the most wonderful day in two people’s lives and I give 100% of my efforts to ensure that things run according to plan. My weakness…I love to plan a Tobago Wedding. The first wedding I did was in Tobago.
It is never too early to start planning.
