IsleDo decided to interview a few of their Trinidad wedding vendors so that couples could “Get to know their vendors” in a more personal way. Find out how La Souce got into the Trinidad wedding industry and get some tips and ideas to help you plan your wedding
IsleDo: How did you get into the Wedding industry?
La Souce: We planned and executed our Trinidad wedding mostly by ourselves, so having this wealth of knowledge we decided to share it with other couples who were getting married. We started out working with friends and family and through their referrals we started working with friends of friends. And so our clientele grew…
IsleDo: Give us a little background on yourself...
La Souce: I worked for almost 20 years in the manufacturing sector as a maintenance engineer, but always had a passion for rearing fishes. I started building water features for the ponds I had at home and whenever my family or friends visited they would be intrigued by these designs. Some friends even asked if I could build similar designs for their homes, that’s when we got the idea to turn this hobby into a business.
IsleDo: What makes you unique?
La Souce: There are a lot of decorators out there but very few of them work with plants and water features. We don’t do the usual
fabric and balloon decorations. We try to create something unique and customized by using plants, water features, special lighting, pillars, etc.
IsleDo: Why should a bride choose you over another vendor?
La Souce: We give you professional service at an affordable price. We also offer free consultations, site visits and quotations.
IsleDo: Are your rates competitive?
La Souce: Very, and we always try to work with your budget.
IsleDo: What is special about your service?
La Souce: Apart from providing a full range of services including set-up, dismantling and transportation, we custom design all of our products and projects, creating a one of a kind experience.
IsleDo: How can brides find you?
La Souce: We have our own website:http://www.lasouce.com. We will also be in the new telephone directory.
IsleDo: What is normally involved in your service?
La Souce: We try to meet personally with all our clients to conduct a site visit and find out all the details of what they would like for their wedding. We then submit a quotation for their approval. Subsequent to their approval a contract is drawn up and the client makes a 50% deposit on signing the contract. We will usually call the client a couple days before the event just to touch base and make sure everything is on schedule. We decorate the day before the event if possible and dismantle the day after.
IsleDo: Give an example of the most unique or memorable Trinidad wedding you worked at – and tell us why/how.
Most events have been special to us , but the ones that stand out are when we find ourselves involved in the planning of the décor and even helping in setting-up on the day of a wedding for a Bride/Groom who has been overwhelmed by the event or disappointed by other key decorators. Though we were not expected to get paid for these services, just the fact that we were there to make that special day special was thanks enough.
IsleDo: What are 3 tips you’d like to share with brides?
La Souce:
• Always work with a budget
• Be realistic and practical
• Have a contract for every vendor/service
