US VIRGIN ISLANDS MARRIAGE REQUIREMENTS
The following rules and guidelines apply to getting married in the US Virgin Islands:
When applying for a marriage license in the U.S. Virgin Islands a couple must complete an application form and have it notarized before returning it.
The form requests:
- Full name and age at last birthday
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Nationality and place of usual residence
- The name of parents (present and maiden)
- Previous marital status (widowed, divorced or annulled)
You will also need:
- If divorced: a certified copy of the divorce decree.
- A letter to the court including: The date of arrival to the island, length of their stay and desired date of the ceremony, if the couple is requesting that a judge perform the ceremony.
There is an 8 day waiting period after you have returned the form to the Territorial Court.
Before a marriage license can be issued, applicants are required to personally appear before the Clerk of the Court, or her designee, to be examined under oath. Some form of identification is required.
No physical examination or blood test is required.
