Wedding Planning in an App world

‘ There’s an app for that.” Have you been hearing this phrase often? I know I have!

Times are changing at warp speed, so much so , that just when you think you have it all downloaded on your smart phone, guess again.

Another new app landed in the App store! So I did some research to uncover some of the useful Apps to make wedding planning way easier.

Top of the list of 7 is a free App that my cousin told me about, which I recently downloaded called “ Appy Couple.”

Basically , it is a wedding website that is ideal for anyone planning a wedding especially a destination wedding.

Everything from the engagement photos, to guest invitation, complete with RSVP feature, ceremony and reception as well as bridal registry info , directions to the venues are all posted on the site, so everyone knows what to expect, where to go, what to do etc.

With a 4+ rating, you know that this is a “ must download app” for sure. Best of all, invite your guests to download it too, because it makes communication so much easier and hassle free.

“Wedding happy” is another free app that creates a customised “ to do” list for you to follow, provided that you input your wedding date.

It counts down the # of days to the wedding, tells you how many tasks you have completed and how many more you still have to do. It’s a virtual wedding planning accountability partner!

Best of all, you do not need an internet connection as all information is stored on a dashboard that has an “ export and e mail” feature, which allows you to send your information to vendors to get quotes and confirm orders.

It also integrates with Facebook and Twitter. How cool is that?

Pinterest! Bet you already have this free app downloaded already right. Needless to say, it provides wonderful ideas and inspiration for you to develop vision and mood boards for your wedding dress, décor, tablescapes and more.

Managing the money could be extremely stressful especially if you are working with a modest budget, or as we say in TnT , ‘ champagne taste and mauby budget”.

The “ Wedding Budget Plan app” is thankfully also free. This App helps you to map and track all your expenses so that you can keep on top of the over/under/within budget parameters. If you over spend on one area, you can make up for it by underspending in another.

Speaking about spending, this App is definitely one worth paying for. It’s called “Wedding DJ”. When you pay for this app, you say goodbye to the wrong music being played, or the right music being played at the wrong time and all those other hiccups that can happen on your special day.

Ease the stress and pump up the vibes by pulling all the songs/ music you select from your Itunes account or playlist , download it to your I pod/ I phone/ I pad in the right order and voila! Your wedding MC or designated family member or friend will easily be able to play your selected music at the right time.

Now that you’ve got your wedding music is covered, let’s look at documeting all those memorable moments.

You’re going to love this App too! It’s another freebie called “ WedPics. Your guests. Their photos. One App” is how they describe their App.

How this works is that you ask your guests to download the App so that they can then upload all the pictures they took at your wedding. Everybody’s pictures can then be seen and shared in 1 central digital space.

You can save and print whichever ones you like to add to your wedding photo album or photobook.

Yes I know that all your millennial guests are on instagram and snap chat and this means adding another App, however it is so worth it. Remember, after all is said and done, after all the months of painstaking planing and preparation, your photo and video memories will last a lifetime.

I always advise my couples to hire the best professionals to shoot and film your wedding. Discuss with them what photos you want taken. A photography check list will ensure that they get all the pictures you want. The others from family and friends are “ icing on the cake.”

Finally, there’s the honeymoon and yes, there is also a free App for planning that too! Tripit .

Visit tripit.com to work out your honeymoon destination plans, get a custom itinerary of places to visit and things to do that syncs with your calendar. Now you have no “ excuse” to miss out, unless of course you choose to.

So there you have it. All the App info you need to go out, download and plan your perfect day. Good Luck!
